How to build your own 3D Printed Christmas decorations?
2020-12-24

Instead of shopping online or in-store for your decorations, there may be a better option. With 3D printing, you can print your own custom decorations without having to leave your house! Therefore, we made our Top 10 best 3D printed Christmas decorations in collaboration  to print in 3D and impress your guests. All you need to do is download the STL files, print the 3D models, choose your filament, and print with your 3D printer.

1. The Christmas Ornaments

Here is a set of six different 3D printable ornaments to decorate your Christmas tree. These stylish and elegant decorations were made by Italian designer DCD-Design. Tie small ribbons to hang them from the branches of the tree and decorate it in the most magnificent way.

Recommended printing machine type: Tronxy XY-2 Pro

2. The Christmas flake

This set offers a DIY adventure. Printed as a set, you must detach each part of the print and recreate your own snowflake. This adds to the fun as you create it yourself rather than printing the finished object.

Recommended printing machine type: Tronxy X5SA (You can download the model here.)

3. The Christmas reindeer

Here is another kit to be 3D printed flat. Once this map is made, you must detach each part of the reindeer head to assemble later. Instructions show you how to make the reindeer. It is also an object that can be created with laser cutting.

Recommended printing machine type: Tronxy XY-2 Pro Titan

4. Christmas lights
Designer Dayoung Chung has designed several beautiful decorative items such as a Christmas cap, a reindeer head, and a pixelated fir tree! All these 3D printable objects have a small hole at the bottom to allow to put on the flashlight of a smartphone to turn them on. It is also possible to enlarge and put a larger hole to slide an LED lamp.

Recommended printing machine type: Tronxy D01

5. The city of Christmas.

This is a beautiful winter scene on a mountain with a train, buildings, trees and many other things. Kijai aka Jukka Seppänen wanted to get away from most Christmas themes, making this scene a winter scene more than a Christmas town. Printable without support, it is also possible to illuminate this beautiful creation with lighting.

6. Santa Claus

Santa Claus was always one to enjoy his mince pies. Therefore, this model of Father Christmas struggling to get through a chimney rings true with how most of us feel having eaten our large Christmas dinners. This funny 3D model was created by Dagoma.

Recommended printing machine type: Tronxy D01

7. Christmas baubles

When it comes to decorating a Christmas tree, baubles are obviously a classic. This one can then be easily printable in 3D and allow a rather nice and personalized rendering. This ball “Twisted” made by Vincent6M is very pretty and graphic. The supports were generated on Cura and the creator made a successful test with PETG bronze filament.

8. Christmas Tree

Decorating your tree is a typical Christmas custom. Why not accompany it with a miniature version, like the one below for example? This 3D printed Christmas tree is made of plastic, preferably transparent PETG, without filling. This way, you can light it from the inside. In our example, the tree has a diameter of 210 mm and a size of 300 mm, but can be individually adapted to the print volume of your printer. (You can download the model here.)

9. Christmas cookie cutters

Biscuits are an absolute must at Christmas time. So why not combine tradition, flavour and delicacy? It’s possible thanks to 3D printing! All you have to do is imagine the shape you would like to give to your biscuits: a tree, a star, Father Christmas, etc. In our case, we have chosen the traditional Christmas stocking in which all the presents are slipped. Don’t hesitate to go to Thingiverse to find different shapes and models. (You can download the model here.)

Recommended printing machine type: Tronxy XY-2 Pro

10. A 3D printed star

The star is originally a Christian symbol, representing what guided the shepherds and the Magi to the manger where Jesus was born, in Bethlehem. Today, it is usually found at the top of our Christmas tree or hung in the window, or simply placed on a piece of furniture in the house. We offer you this model to be printed in 3D, in PLA, in different colours and sizes. There are dozens of them on 3D file platforms. (You can download the model here.)
