The printer came in a fairly large box that weight in the neighborhood of 30 lbs. I opened it and was pleasantly surprised in the way everything was packaged. Wow, TronXY went to a lot of trouble to keep everything separated and easy to find.
I laid everything out in their own groups, the beautifully painted frame, Z carriage pieces, gantry and hotend, power supplies, switches, a USB stick with a Micro SD card inserted, etc.
I found beautifully illustrated manual inside the box with step by step instructions, which I opened and got ready to assemble the frame. Everything is laid out in millimeters and, other than my calipers, all my measuring tools are in inches, so I had to do a lot of translating to inches to make sure I got the right pieces in the right place. When I tried to find the long parts of the frame I panicked because none of the 2020 or 2040 parts were anywhere near the length of the frame shown in the printed manual!
I finally plugged the USB drive into my laptop and opened the manual on there. FANTASTIC!! This manual had the right dimensions for MY machine. I have to believe the printed manual was for either the 400 X 400 or 500 X 500 models instead of my 330 X 330. In about an hour I was able to assemble the frame and put on the XY gantry and hotend. Be sure to slide the feet out as far as possible toward the end of the 2020 because you'll need the space to get the power supply and main board mounted when that step comes up.
XY motors were easy to figure out. Z wasn't too difficult but be aware that you will need to move the carriage to the top with the screws and snug it up, move it down a little and tighten it. If you don't do this, you'll wind up with the top bearing in the wrong place and the Z screw will be out of line, putting the Z carriage in a bind and adding extra work onto the Z motors, possibly even burning out a driver.
After mounting the heated bed, installing limit switches and wiring everything up, I was ready to try it out.
First thing I noticed was that the cable chain connection is very weak where it connects at the back. It kept coming loose and I finally had to print a support bracket for it on my other printer.
I started it and homed it, then ran the leveling routine. Wow, the machine does 16 points on the bed and does it quickly. I was worried that it did it so fast, so I ran it a second time and compared the numbers. Almost identical! NICE!!
Overall, I love this printer. I've added corner brackets for stiffness and I put OctoPrint on it but otherwise I've not changed it. I will print with it for a while and see how well it prints.

Things to keep in mind, if you have never built a printer before, this kit is probably not for you.

I got the kit last Monday and it was packaged really well and neatly amongst styrofoam sheets. There is an instructions manual, and its pretty decent quality. It goes through your parts list, how to get started, along with color coding what is being used on the current step. It can get a bit busy as you're progressing through, so I would also recommend going to YT and watching the video TRONXY has on this printer.
A couple things come preassembled like the motors, the hot end, rollers, and control box for the X-Axis, Extruder, and Filament sensor. Power supply and control board are preassembled as well, so the electronics are essentially plug n play.

One of my idlers for the gantry came chipped (see 3rd picture) and I was able to reach out to TRONXY's support and they are sending me a new idler. However, this is not the only OC issue I've run into. The timing belts were twisted and would not tighten, so I did have to replace them. So far the movement on the X and Y axis has been pretty stable, with a few hiccups here and there.

Z-Axis has been a hassle, while both motors are running at the same time and thankfully at the same rate. When trying to home however, the Z axis keeps moving up and thus colliding with the hotend assembly, making a god awful sound and time for everyone involved. That said, this is likely more like Operator error than it is anything on the printer's part as this is my first CoreXY style printer build.

Update 11/13 —This was entirely operator error. I did not loosen the x carriage, which caused the belts to loosen which in turn caused the printer to be unable to accurately place the x assembly where it needed to be to move. Once it was properly adjusted, I was able to print the calibration model that came on the sd card and while I did have a couple of bottom layer issues, the rest of the model printer fine.

I would definitely recommend this printer to other intermediate hobbyists, but not to beginners. I've had several 3d printers now and feel comfortable enough to be able to build one of these and get it up and running in no time, even if I have to trouble shoot for a while. That said, the instructions manual does come with some basic trouble shooting help. If that doesn't solve your issue, you could always reach out to TRONXY's support team who are super friendly and will respond within 24 hrs, not including when they have holidays.

Amazing price for a Large core XY printer! Setup is straightforward if you’ve built an ender 3 or similar printer. The updated 24v printer addresses almost every complaint the 12v x5sa has, they really listened to their reviews. TONS of extra hardware, but still missing the wrench for M3 nuts

ABL is working great so far with Z offset adjusted

You may need to team/drill 8mm holes for paint leftover on the z rods , upgrade to metal z rod bearing over plastic would be nice

Precision hex drivers are a lifesaver with this many screws for assembly

Silicone extrusion covers are excellent for cable management, cut off 1 inch strips and put over cables in the aluminum extrusion slots

The assemble time for me was about 8 hour it comes with decent instructions with picture but they also have a great YouTube video that I used to assemble the printer. I also like the removable metal print bed so far after 3 prints I have not need any glue or hair spray. With the bed only moving in z I'm able to get quality prints running at 60mm/s. The one down side I didn't expect was that you have to set the z offset every time you shut the printer off other than that it's as good as I expected. And the service provided by tronxy is excellent they are. Willing to help with any problems you have after purchase.

I’ve had some amazing prints! My first printer was damaged badly and I had to replace is so I decided to spend the extra $20 for this one and man am I happy I did! It’s made of aluminum and since there aren’t any rods, I don’t have to worry about them warping. No bearings to wear out from the bushings which is what caused my original one to get damaged. The filament sensor has saved me a few times! This alone is worth the extra cost I spent! I loved it so much I bought a second one!

Ok people, here's my review. I start with the bad but please also read the good.

    The Bad:

Ok. Its been a week since I received this printer. First observation during the assembly wasn't that great for the QC department. Packaging on mine was good but they put the logo on my touch screen totally upside down. I have emailed them but have not heard anything back as of yet. Also I noticed that the Home micro switch for the X-Y plane was mounted in a Its almost my lunch time fashion and should have included some stand off spacers. It is in there at an angle because the switch protrudes from the circuit board. Because of this, Home is a little to the left of the platter than it should be. Not a biggie. Other than that and the logo upside down, I have not had any issues with the mechanics.

The software on the other hand is another situation. Software is included on the SD but I wouldn't waste your time installing it unless you already know how to use it. Its in depth and not that user friendly for beginners. Again, not their fault as they didn't make it. Also, you will not find this printer in any 3d software settings as a preset. Or at least I haven't as of yet. Correct me if someone has please but honestly really expected this due to the price. Because of this you will need to setup a generic printer device and put in as much information as you can. This brings me to another issue.
Other than the specs they give you on Amazon, no other in depth specifications are given in the box. A lot of which you really need to setup this printer in software. Personally I used the closed eyes, dart on the wall, method and it has worked out ok so far. I have found that checking the heat temp settings for the extruder and bed as well as the bed size will get you by. Or has me anyway. I think the Gcode these printers use is pretty generic. Their are a lot of other settings for 3D printers in the slicing software that will effect your print but it applies really to all of them so learn as fast as you can.

The wiring is a mess. Mismatched lengths cause hard to do wire management. As far as knowing what goes where, that is pretty straight forward, just don't expect it to look pretty unless you want to spend some time at it.

    The Good:

Now to stop knocking it and talk about the good things. It prints. Just as well as a lot of the printers I've watched on YouTube. I've had several good prints and the normal bad ones. To fix the Software issue and get success, I use IceSL now and for my design I use FreeCad. Both are freeware. Hope I didn't just Jinx it. Again, if you get this printer, visit YouTube and search channels that are for 3D printing. You will find that not all of the issues are specific to this device. A lot of the issues you will experience happen to most “personal use” printers. Also, 3D printers in general are not really plug and play and do take some time to get used to.
I could sit here and nitpick everything about this printer but I'm not going to. It is my first printer and so far am happy with its results and because its my first, do not have enough knowledge in the craft as a whole to down it much. Their QC could use some work on the small components and small details. Even though may not effect performance, it can effect the overall vibe of the product.

    Overall:

I think, so far, its a decent printer for what I've poured into it. Sure, I could have can spent more $$$, but this one does work for what I wanted and does work well once you get it dialed in. If I find I outgrow it, I’ll just invest in better model.

Oh and ya, I'll be editing this review if it craps out on me anytime soon. Longevity is also key to a good product.

Overall really happy with this printer and especially happy for the price point. When I 1st set it up the z axis end stop wasnt working, after a few minutes of diagnosing I found that the pin was loose in the main harness clip. Popped it back in and have been printing perfectly since.

I did decide to upgrade the spool real as the original either got in the way of my z screw nob or if it was mounted on top it was too sharp of an angle to go into the run put sensor. Also I immediately went to glass so I cannot speak on the included pei sheet.

This 3d Printer was EXTREMELY easy to put together, just 4 parts. I did order the one with the non auto-bed leveling, which to be honest I should have, being a beginner at this. So I would say if you are a 1st timer spend the extra $20 or so and get the auto bed leveling, it will help with headaches. But once I got it leveled and figured out I was able to do my first print which was the Pickle Rick. It did have some layer issues and all but that was due to my fault of setting up the profile right. Once I got the profile down, I printed out the butterfly for my wife and it looks great! So yes, for the price it is A MUST HAVE! And VERY EASY to use. You will be come a very addicted to once you start.

to start off I'm not an expert and this is my first 3d printer. It only took about 30 min to get assembled (watch the video on the flash drive that comes with it). I down loaded the software that was included and it seems to be ok so far. (i did have to install it twice bc I didn't follow directions). the how to connect to computer Power Point that was on the the flash drive is of an older version but if you take your time you can figure it out. i decided to print a test model with the filament provided. and after a little trial and error i got it printing. so far I'm impressed. the model i printed was just a simple one to see how everything works. and the quality of the print is better than some of the stuff ive bought that was 3d printed. i defiantly recommend this printer as an inexpensive way to get started.

Building the XY-2 was easy. Tronxy has made it easy to build and fast with all the parts come well packed and organized and easy to put together by following the instructions the printer is about 90% put together. There is a 8gb micro-sd card and card reader with the printer that has all the instructions to build the printer and the 8gb card and be use for offline printing. I like the full-color touch screen you don’t see that with other printers in the same price range and a 33bit control board and with power-loss makes this printer price right for any one with a budget and to get you started in the awesome world of 3d printing. With this printer being all metal frame it is very strong and stable. The filament run out feature is a nice add on if you plan on doing long prints. it will pause the printer if you run out of filament. It has a large print bed that will suit the average person needs. now the bed is just 12v so it take a bit to heat up. This printer comes with a 32 bit control board that uses chiTu firmware the interphase is easy to use and navigate to all the settings with having a 32 bit board you can get some good prints at higher speed. Getting the bed level was fast and easy and was one of the fastest printer I setup. Would highly recommend purchasing this printer.

This one was easy to build and all of the wires are clearly labeled. The instructions are just one page and I recommend watching the build video. Once I got it assembled I needed to tighten the belts which is fairly easy and make a few leveling and squaring adjustments. This printer is on par with other similar brands and I am able to print just as good on this one as I am on my other 3 printers. The plastic build sheet isn't as tough as Id like it to be so I will be using a glass bed on this one. Also the scraper tool is not as good as the scraper that has been included with other 3D printers that I own.

It comes with all of the tools you need to build the machine and adjust the already assembled bolts. The printer has a filament run out sensor that will automatically pause a print if you are about to run out. The pause feature is great for swapping out filaments! Leveling is also easy as the firmware has a leveling procedure to help me level 5 points on the bed. This might be a tough first printer for a new user, but some trial, adjustments, and tuning is always needed with a new machine. I'm really enjoying this one and it is up and running with great results!

I bought this printer back in November and have been blown away by both the printer and the customer service.

The printer arrived in 2 days and was packed neatly with foam. Assembly took around 20 minutes. Then I ran into a problem, the nozzle wouldn’t heat up and kept on giving me an error screen. I contacted Tronxy and Abby helped me diagnose the problem and sent me a replacement board the next day. Installed and now prints great!

    Pros:
    -Great build quality
    -Easy assembly
    -Tools
    -Amazing customer service
    -Touch screen controls

    Cons:
-Touch screen settings and features were confusing at first. Organized differently than standard LCD screens running marlin.

    5/5 Would definitely buy again!

I was skeptical when i first ordered this printer being that i own a few other expensive 3d printers. Assembly was pretty straight forward, the only suggestion is a better manual to be included. Bed leveling took a few tries but got it leveled.
I installed the software and sliced my own marvin to compare to the other high quality printer's i own. All i can say is wow. I was very surprised at the quality. This was a quick print, took 19 minutes. With a few firmware updates and tweaks this printer will print just like my high end ones.
