At first, I was skeptical at the low price of this printer. But, when I got it, it worked excellently, and it was easy to assemble. The model is similar to the ender 3, but it's much better, and has auto bed leveling, which is worth it for the slight price increase. If someone asked me if this was a good starting printer, I would definitely recommend it, mainly because of how easy it is to use and how easy it is to set up.

This printer is awesome. Super easy to set up and the bed leveling is cool. First print after about 30 minutes of assembly turned out perfect. Must buy!

My husband and I were looking to get into 3d printing. We did quite a bit of research before settling on this one. I don't usually write reviews, but it was so hard finding information on this printer, I want to put some more out there in case someone else is researching which printer to buy. Our criteria were as follows. We wanted decent print quality, room to grow the printer once we got our feet wet and a machine that worked well enough without tinkering for us to get a good start. It also had to be quiet since we were planning on having it in our living space. The things we liked about this printer were ease of setup (we were precise and followed the clear instructions), good prints from the get go, most upgrades already included (auto bed leveling, quieter motherboard, decent bowden couplings, better extruder etc). There is a dearth of information about this printer online relative to other similarly priced printers, but the reliability of the included parts more than made up for it.I recommend this printer for people who like to tinker as there was a bit more footwork required to find out how to calibrate certain aspects of the print where the firmware was involved (Chitu firmware instead of Marlin) and setting up Octoprint needed some extra steps. There was also one problem with the printer out of the box that required us to troubleshoot some bizarre under-extrusion. That ended up being that the hot end side of the bowden tube had not been cut straight and so a plug of plastic developed between the nozzle and the tube. I'm not knocking off any stars for that because this is still a bang up printer and I have been consistently impressed by how well it is performing even while the plug was in place. As with any piece of equipment meant for consumer fiddling, it does have things that need to be checked and maintained so don't expect to print well completely effortlessly. However, even after much research and now that I know what all the points on the box mean, if I had to do it again, I would still buy this one gladly. We have successfully been printing both PLA and ABS for a few weeks now.

The setup was pretty fast ( under 20 minutes) and printer looks great. The included power cord was no good , machine wouldn’t power up. But I had extra pc cords ( who doesn’t) and problem quickly solved. Figuring out the auto level/ manual level setup correctly took about 45 minutes until got it down right. Next time will be simple. Isn’t silent and fan is noticeable but not like reviews saying too f’ n loud etc. isn’t that bad! Doing first print so far loving it.

I currently have two of these running side by side. The only real complaint I have is that they have garbage cooling fans (I have already had to replace all 3 of them) and the heat bead requires some tweaking during the printing to get and keep it level. I have read where people are having problems with the print sticking to the build plate. This happens for a number of reasons but can be corrected with Final Net EXTRA HOLD Hairspray (yes, brand specific and yes, you read correctly... hair spray) I have had no problems printing with ABS, PETG, PLA, TPU and Flex PLA. As far as this being a printer for beginners, I really cannot say that it is. Very few printers can just be taken out of the box and go. The ones that are, are very limited in what they can do. As with any printer, before you buy one, read the forums watch some videos and expect some trial and error with it. Every printer is a little different, and every material is different. Everything requires some knowledge of what you are doing BEFORE you do it. Learn the settings in the slicer program and what they do. Temp, extrusion speed, layer height, fan speeds...all can have a major influence on what happens during the print. The fun part of life is learning the how behind the what of what you are doing. I have a Tronxy X5SA that experienced a failure in the control board, I was able to contact tech support and they are sending me a new one at no charge, which is why I had to buy 2 of these to stand in while I wait on the new board. The tech support email is : lisa@tronxy.com. There is about a 12 to 24 hour delay for a response, I have never had a question go unanswered and they have always gone above and beyond to help.

My wife and I decided to purchase a 3D printer for Christmas this year. We are both absolute novices to the technology. We saw it as an investment, being able to make clay cutters for her jewelry business and I was hoping to use it to prototype projects I was interested in building. We did our homework and decided on the Tronxy XY-2 Pro. We have not been disappointed by our decision. This printer is an affordable machine capable of detailed work. It was extremely well packed and all components, including a sizable spool of filament, tools, and spare parts, were organized within. Assembly took less than 60 minutes and that included watching two videos. (One from Tronxy that takes you step by step through the assembly process and another one from an independent reviewer that disassembled the printer to show that it is well made.) The actual assembly process consists of attaching the control panel (prewired and attached to the frame for shipping) with two bolts, mounting the gantry (upper bracket) with 4 bolts, and topping the structure with the filament bracket with two more bolts. That’s it – eight bolts. There are two wiring harnesses to plug in, plus the power cord. I checked out the rest of the preassemble frame, printer bed and other moving components. They were all tight with little to no play. The machine was literally ready to print in less than an hour.In our research, we found that bed leveling was crucial for quality prints, so we spent time both manually leveling the bed with the spring-loaded thumb screws, as well as running the auto leveling program that is part of the system software. Over the dozen prints we have made since purchase the bed has kept its level (I run the auto-level program before each print session to confirm.) The other issue our research pointed out was filament adhesion on the first level. Tronxy included a hot bed “sticker” which is actually a 10 inch by 10 inch piece of fiberglass that you clip onto the hot bed (The XY-2 Pro is capable of printing an object approximately 10” X 10” X 10”). In our research, it was recommended that you use blue painters tape or glue sticks to improve filament adhesion, but we have not used anything but Isopropyl alcohol to clean the print surface between projects, and we have had no issues with our prints popping off the board before they are done.Loading filament is a breeze, and as shared above, Tronxy includes a sizable spool of white filament with the printer. The loading process is simply running the filament into the filament detector (that also warns you when you have run out of material), through the Titan extruder, and on down the feed-pipe to the printing head. Tronxy also includes several pre-sliced projects with the system software. Our first print was the “Rook”, a castle tower, complete with a spiral staircase inside. The bed and nozzle heated quickly as you can watch the temperatures rise in real time on the color touch-screen monitor. It took 8.5 hours to print the 2-inch wide by 3-inch tall model, but the detail was amazing. We had read about “salmon skin” on prints caused by vibration, but as the detail photo shows, the layers were evenly distributed. We then created a clay cutter pattern, sliced it in Cura, and printed it as both a single cutter and as multiple cutters simultaneously. These also came out clean and ready for my wife to used in her Jewelry making. I then changed filament to a dark color (purple), and printed Tronxy’s Octopus. Each arm on the model is linked like a chain allowing the arms to dangle and move. Again, we are very impressed by this machine, especially as novices, and recommend it to anyone planning to jump in and get started quickly.

I have owned a Da Vinci XYZ and Anet A8 (was sent a mix of A6 and A8 pieces by vendor :( ). It is just as easy to use as the Da Vinci but half the price. Good entry level printer with enough wiggle room to keep more seasoned used entertained for a bit. The range of materials that can be used is a great selling point as well!

https://youtu.be/9WHZEXH7N-E

This was my second attempt at getting into 3D printing. My first was a refurbished Monoprice that I could not get dialed in at all, and after many failures, just gave up. So after reading many reviews for a starter printer that had features I wanted, (auto level, resume print, filament detection) I went with this one. The instruction booklet is great, and takes you step by step through assembly, leveling, and print set up. If you follow the instructions you'll be up and printing within an hour. My first test print of the dino model went off without a hitch. Being a 10 hour print, I was impressed by the pin jointed dino model, and was surprised it printed the joints as the whole model printed. It's a solid little printer with a good build area. The only cons are the location of the SD card port, and the short power cord.

The LCD screen and menus are fantastic, and the leveling functions are awesome. For the price point, this printer is excellent for the beginner/hobbyist.
